British traffic signs changes, Safety Signs News

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Safety signs across the uk’s roads are to be exhamined in their most substantial review over the last 40 years.

Minister of Transport, Mr Norman Baker has posted this move, which he hopes will dramatically lessen the number of sign erections needed by local councils.

Signs will also be introduced to inform vehicle users of parking places that have a charging point for electric vehicles.

Commenting on the plans, Mr Baker said: “Sometimes the jungles of signs and tangles of white, red and yellow lines can leave people more confused than informed. This expensive clutter can also leave our roadsides looking unsightly.”

Mr Baker added that he desires consistency across the country in regards to sign rules, while enabling local authorities more freedom in how they introduce the installations.

Earlier this month, a new road sign was brought to Crieff, after it was designed by a local school student.

It will be used to welcome motorists into the town. ADNFCR-2754-ID-800760171-ADNFCR

Safety Signs uk for traffic signs

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

Traffic signs are essentially a daily routine, everyone who drives on the road has to obey the traffic signs. Whether they are exit signs or just general safety signs including speed restrictions, no entry, or general advice on road conditions or weather restrictions like snow and ice. Health and safety is all about keeping people safe, allowing people to go about their daily business as safely as possible whilst taking into account any warning signs they may come across.
Cestrian signs limited and safetysignsuk strive to help keep people safe on a daily basis by producing good quality accurate safety signs that follow the health and safety signs directive from the executive. Any changes which are enforceable by law are cascaded down to all our customers and changes which require action are high lighted.
Exit signs and traffic signs have changed very little over the last few years however health and safety signs, warning signs and fire safety signs and always being updated to bring them in line with the EU directive, this mainly includes using pictorgrammes and creating a sign which can be recognised all across the eu as being a standard which you don’t have to read the language to understand.
The most recent update to the directive is being pushed through in August 2011. This directive includes the updating of the mandatory signs under the health and safety signs banner an example of one of the changes is that the hard hat pictorgramme put be a side profile not a front profile which was previously standard.

Christmas Banners

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Christmas is fast approaching and the main thing of peoples mind is making the post of the christmas sprending spree. Cestrian Signs ltd have always been a very fast fast and efficient supplier not only for the basics eg fire exit signs, safty signs, traffic signs etc but also for banners. Previously banners have had vinyl letters applied which tended to fall off after a while and look very tatty, we print directly onto our banner with 4 year outdoor proof inks. Our banner is top quality 550mg and can withstand all weathers, we also use marine standard eyelets which won’t rust and caused staining on the banner.

Chester Zoo have just recently asked us to produce some large banners at their front entrance which is advertising their Christmas Festivities this year, as usually these banners are very striking and really pull in the customers. Pubs and restaurants also enjoy great curb appeal from our very reasonably priced banners, having clever wording means they can be used time and time again year after year.
As we can make the banners to any size and in any colour including full colour photographs or images the impact can be fabulous. If you want to have something temporary which has a great impact try one of our banners and we can make a bespoke banner especially for you, our prices are very reasonable and service and quality good.
We can also help with design and content without charging you advertising agency fees, charging only thirty eight pounds per hour.

Health and Safety signs coshh

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Health and safety signs are at best a very plain but essential part of our daily life. We pride ourselves on not only producing functional signs but also well designed signs. It really doesn’t matter whether it is an exit sign, warning signs or traffic signs the design should be easy to read and ‘nice’ to look at. Recently we have been asked to produce new COSHH signs which include full colour photos, these help break the monotany of Health and Safety signs with out distracting from the message needed to be given.

Traffic signs and stations are also very popular at the moment, with the nights drawing in and visability reducing with the dark winter days these are a good warning sign to passing motorists and pedestrians. Available in two types or reflectivity these safety signs are great and comply with highways standards. New exit signs have just been erected by one of our customers in Chester whi has high volumes of traffic from the highways, these signs also included their logo, telephone and webb address, we print all thin sign information onto clear vinyl and mount onto the highly reflective warning signs. Therefore the customer keeps the health and safety signs as per regulations but also advertises their business to the fullest degree.

Traffic signs need not just be functional they can also be a good advertising tool, and an asset to any business as improves the professional look of the business as soon as the customer turns off the highway.

Fire Safety Signs

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

A local school has just had a health and safety inspection by the local council and realised that all their Fire safety signs are not upto scratch. The fact that they have been in the building for the last twenty five years has of cause affected the effectivness of the signage, as has the change of use of parts of the building and re decorating and painting over of exit signs by the decorators.
It is always worth doing a health and safety survey every couple of years to check the signs to make sure they are still doing their job. The gem glow or photoluminescent signs only glow for a certain number of years before the chemical becomes inert and so exit signs, fire safety signs and general health and safety signs no longer glow in the dark, rendering them useless if a fire takes hold and the lights go out. Also new legislation means the fire exit signs must have a pictorgram where ever relevant incase the occupant can’t read english or in the case of a child can’t read at all but can follow an arrow and running man.
A basic health and safety work regualtions 1999 leaflet is available from cestrian signs ltd and safetysignsuk.co.uk for those who may find it useful.
